AY2025 Fall Graduation Ceremony for Academies for the WISE Program
Three graduates of TAC-MI, seven graduates of WISE-SSS and seven graduates of ISE were celebrated in the graduation ceremony at Hisao & Hiroko Taki Plaza on Ookayama Campus on September 22, 2025. Commemorative medals were presented to the graduates.

At the beginning of the ceremony, EVP for Education Noriyuki Wakabayashi gave the graduates congratulations. And then, the directors of each academy introduced the graduates and shared their congratulatory messages.

Furthermore, the ceremony concluded with words from student representatives of each academy. On behalf of the TAC-MI graduate, Aparna CHITRA SUDHEER commented “Standing here as a TAC-MI graduate feels amazing. Five years of hard work, late nights, and constant learning have brought us to this moment. When I first joined, I wasn’t entirely sure what “materials informatics” would mean in practice. It sounded impressive enough to confuse my family, but over time, I discovered that it was really about learning new ways of thinking and approaching problems. There are many moments I will always remember. Practice school was particularly memorable for me, as it was my first experience working in a Japanese company. I really enjoyed working with the staff there, and I’ll never forget starting every morning with radio taiso, something totally new to me. And of course, I think many of us will always remember our international conference in Oiso, where we enjoyed the stay and the food just as much as the sessions. Learning both materials science and informatics has been a unique privilege. With that knowledge also comes a responsibility; not only to advance science, but to use it in ways that can make a small but meaningful difference in the world. Today, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. Our professors, industrial mentors, staff, and friends were always there to encourage us and make the difficult times easier. And to my fellow graduates, congratulations. We made it through TAC-MI, we made it through the PhD, and I believe we are ready to take on whatever comes next.”
And finally, EVP for Institute Strategy Jun-ichi Imura offered his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates.

Members of faculty, mentors, and staff in the TAC-MI program look forward to seeing how the latest program graduate exercise their problem-solving ability, global leadership and expertise of “materials × information” on the world stage.
