Finally, the ceremony concluded with words from student representatives of each academy. On behalf of the TAC-MI graduate, Yohei Cho commented “Looking back on my four years at the TAC-MI, I feel that I have gained valuable experience. Before joining TAC-MI, I myself had no experience of informatics. Through the systematic and basic lecture, I learned the theory and application. After the lecture, I was allowed to join the Prof. Oba laboratory, the world leading group of first-principles calculations, and was given the opportunity to work with them, which gave me the feeling of being at the forefront of research. It was also very stimulating to see how other TAC-MI students were improving their research both qualitatively and quantitatively through the use of informatics. Finally, this step-by-step education system enabled me to do an analysis, which became one of the most important parts of my doctoral thesis. During my time at TAC-MI, I had opportunity to discuss with students and professors from different fields at Tokyo Tech, also students and researchers from overseas, and staffs not only from academia but also from industry, and was exposed to a variety of values. In particular, I was given the opportunity to study in the Imperial College London for six months, which made me to look at my research from a completely different perspective and deepen it. I am truly grateful to have been given this opportunity, to have met my colleagues and all the staffs to have received their warm support. I would like to utilize the knowledge gained here in my future journey.”
